| NYKS chalks out plan to commemorate 10 yr of freedom struggle | | | JAMMU, FEB 27 The Jammu and Kashmir Zone of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan organized a state level convention of youth coordinators, National Service Volunteers and Nehru Yuva Sathees at Youth Hostel Nagrota today to chalk out plan of action to commemorate 150 years of freedom struggle, the first war of Independence. All the functionaries of NYK in Jammu and Kashmir participated in the convention. Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Dr Romesh Chander Sharma inaugurated the convention by lighting the traditional lamp. Zonal Director J&K S S Kashyap, Regional Coordinator and K K Gandotra Consultant NYKS New Delhi were also present. Reminding about the role of freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the independence of the country, Dr Sharma urged the participants to know the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and work for the development of the country. ‘We should work unitedly for peace and strengthen national integration’ he added. Zonal Director gave a detailed account of the activities of the Sangathan in the state and the programs planned for next two months to commemorate 150 years of Independence. The programs included holding of seminars, debates, group discussions, exhibitions, cultural programs, apart from taking out a rally from Meerut to Delhi in which nearly one thousand youth from the State would be participating. Consultant NYKS said that a rally is being taken out from Meerut on May 7 and culminate at Red Fort on May 11. Participants from all over the country and nearly 50,000 volunteers from NYKs would participate in this historic rally, he added
