| Truckers face wrath of weather Gods: Authorities turn blind eye | | | Jammu, February 27 Jammu and Kashmir Petrol Tank Owners Association on Tuesday took state government to task for their callous and delayed response towards miseries of truckers stranded on the Jammu –Srinagar National highway for last seven days. "The authorities have turned a blind eye to the pitiable condition of the drivers and cleaners", President of the Association Anan Sharma said here. Large number of our crew members are on the verge of starvation but the state government is yet to take any measure in order to provide the stranded truckers with food amenties, medicines and water.Sharma said due to bad weather conditions some elderly truck drivers are suffereing from fever and cold but no help has reached them from the govt quarters. Urging the state govt to take immeditae steps to provid eatables.food,first aid and drinking water to all those who are stranded at the highway,Sharma said any casulaity/eventuality will be at the risk and responsibility of the state govt which always pay a deaf ear as far as the poor people of the state are concerned. |
