| BJP set to form govt in Uttarakhand | | | DEHRADUN, FEB 27 Riding on the crest of an anti-incumbency wave, the BJP was inching close to form a new government in Uttarakhand winning as many as 30 seats and leading in four others. With trends and results of all the 69 seats available now, BJP was just short of one seat from the magic figure of 35. Top party leaders were optimistic that the BJP would form the new government. As the trends favoured BJP following counting of votes, Congress spokesman Surendra Agarwal conceded defeat in the hustings saying the division of secular votes led to the party's debacle. BJP state president Bhagat Singh Koshiyari welcomed the trends and the results and said the people rejected the Congress due to its "anti-Uttarakhand policies". |
