They emphasized that the free land should be transferred to actual tillers who are presently in possession of the land and are actually tilling the land so that non-agriculturists do not take any undue benefit out of this act.
They also demanded appropriate quota percentage for Kumhar community and other OBC categories.
Addressing on the occasion, Chief Minister appreciated the role of OBC, ST, SC in development and progress of the nation as a whole and Jammu and Kashmir State in particular. He further said that passing of the new amended Roshni Act has given new impetus to our agriculture growth. He said that giving free ownership rights to poor farmers was not only revolutionary in character but aimed to raise the status of poor farmers in the society. He said the present government has gone beyond any such legislation made so far in any part of the country. Azad advised people to ensure that genuine tillers, cultivators and poor farmers take full benefit of Roshni Act.
He appreciated the role of Kumhar and other backward communities who have been always in the forefront to support all decisions of the government.
Vice President of the Sabha Mr. Ajeet Singh was presented with Mahatma Gandhi award on the occasion for his outstanding contribution towards awareness of backward community in Jammu division.
