| Great saints purified society from social evils: Mangat | | | Jammu, Feb 27
Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma has highlighted the contribution of great saints and gurus in purifying society from social evils and inculcating spirituality in human beings.
He was addressing at a function organized to celebrate birth anniversary of Sant Gora Ji Maharaj here today.
He said Sant Gora Ji Majaraj was a great saint of the time and his teachings were quite simple and purposeful. He said best way to pay tributes to Maharaj is to follow his teaching and create a society free from hatred.
On this occasion Praja Pati (Kumhar) Sabha presented a charter of demand, which says that Kumhar community comprising Hindus and Muslims having population approximately two lakh in Jammu and Kashmir State and are living below poverty line. Other demands include grant of pre-matric and post-matric scholarship to the students of the community, reimbursement of board examination fees, revoking of SRO-294, timely issuance of OBC certificates, 27% reservation as vindicated by Supreme Court of India and funds to the tune of Rs.10 lakh for construction of Sant Reka underground community hall.
Large number of devotees and prominent citizens attended the function. |
