| Dr. Manohar chairs Petitions Committee meeting | | | Jammu, Feb 27 The Petitions Committee of J&K Legislative Assembly met here today under the chairmanship of MLA Dr Manohar Lal Sharma and held threadbare discussion on the petitions filed before it by various aggrieved persons under different subjects. The petitions which came for discussion in today’s meeting included non-payment of wages on account of mid-day meals to some workers engaged by the education department in Kathua district, mismanagement in the functioning of ICDS centres in remote areas, settlement of land dispute at Miran Sahib. The Committee reviewed the progress of these cases and directed the Assembly Secretariat to call some government functionaries for disposal of these petitions. The Committee also took cognizance of a petition filed by the residents of village Mohra Hut Saki Maidan, tehsil Mendhar regarding closure of National Stone Crusher at village Bhera Mendhar. The petitioners have alleged that the stone crusher has been set up without observing the required formalities under the Pollution Control norms and causing health problems to the people residing in adjoining localities. The complainants have also indicated that the owner of the crusher has not obtained the necessary NOC from the Pollution Control Board and operating unauthorisedly. The Committee decided to call concerned agencies to clear their point of view on the subject. The Petitions Committee of Legislative Assembly considers the petitions/complaints from such aggrieved persons who have failed to get justice from the other quarters. The genuine petitioners can file their grievances before the Committee for justice. The petitions can be addressed to Chairman, Petitions Committee, Assembly Secretariat, Jammu/Srinagar. Those present in the meeting included legislators, Mr. Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Sofi, Mr. Mohammad Aslam Khan, Mr. Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, Mr. Sarfraz Khan, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Mr. Faqir Nath, Th. Puran Singh, Dr Mehboob Baig, Additional Secretary Assembly Mr. G.N.Mir and Deputy Secretary Mr. M.R.Singh. |
