| Veiled students ask Pak govt to rebuild demolished mosques | | | ISLAMABAD, FEB 28
Veiled girl students of an Islamic seminary here, who are occupying a public library since January 21 to protest the demolition of unauthorised mosques, have said that they will end the stand-off only after the government rebuilds all the places of worship and implements Sharia law in the country.
Students of the Madressah Hafsa said they would take to the roads and rebuild the seven mosques themselves if the government failed to do so.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday at the Lal Mosque, they said that the occupation of the library would continue till the implementation of Islamic Law in the country and rebuilding of all the seven mosques.
The Pakistan government initially toyed with the idea of storming the library to take control of it and reached an agreement earlier with the mosque management to rebuild one of the mosques demolished and formed a committee to decide about the other structures.
After the agreement, the students allowed the members of the library to visit but declined to end their occupation.
