| J&K passing through revolutionary phase of development: Azad | | Rs. 39.90 cr Sidhra-Surinsar-Mansar road project | | Jammu, February 28 “Appreciating the efforts of all government functionaries for timely and speedy execution of mega, mini and micro development projects aimed at creating massive infrastructure in the state particularly in road connectivity sector”, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that Jammu and Kashmir is presently passing through revolutionary phase of development. He was launching Rs. 39.90 crore widening and strengthening of Sidhra-Surinsar-Mansar road project under Asian Development Bank funding here today. Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak, Legislators Mr. Jugal Kishore, Mr. Raman Bhalla, Mr. Yogesh Sawhney and Mr. R. S. Chib, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Ch. Manmohan Singh, Corporator Mrs. Rani Blowria, Chief Executive Economic Reconstruction Agency Mr. Vijay Bakaya, ex-MLA Mr. Shivdev Singh, political leaders, senior officers and prominent citizens were also present on the occasion. Chief Executive Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency Mr. Vijay Bakaya in his welcome address gave details of the widening and strengthening of Sidhra-Surinsar-Mansar road project. He said the total cost of the project is Rs. 39.90 crore. He also dwelt on other projects being taken up by ERA under ADB funding as well as those on which work is going ahead speedily. All the speakers lauded the extra-ordinary efforts of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad for getting liberal funding under ADB scheme which has enabled the state to take up construction of prestigious projects including bridges as well as roads. Amidst pro-Azad slogans raised by thousands of persons who had assembled on the occasion, Chief Minister’s historical and revolutionary steps of creating eight new districts and free distribution of 17 lakh kanals of land among poor farmers and tillers were hailed unanimously. The speakers were of the opinion that Azad-led government has brought developmental revolution in the state and all projects which are being taken up for execution are being completed in time and targeted period which has enhanced the confidence of the people in its commitments. Mr. Azad said that since he has taken over as Chief Minister, he has made it a point to work for all people irrespective of their political lineage or constituencies. He said that government is for all people and should not be allowed to be divided on religion, caste and regional lines. He said those who are diverting the attention of the people from development by raising hoax slogans for petty politics are not friends of the people. He said the present government has to continue till it again wins the next election after two years, therefore, last three months before the election are available for all political parties to raise all kinds of slogans which ever they deem fit to win the votes. However, at present they need not to waste the time of the people and disrupt the developmental activities. Chief Minister said that besides massive road connectivity infrastructure, the entire Jammu and Kashmir state is being brought under the umbrella of health care which is aimed to be provided to the people on their doorsteps. A network of big and small hospitals and medical units is being constructed in all nooks and corners of the state. Mr. Azad also referred to various steps taken for promotion of tourism in the state and establishment of tourism development authorities and tourist circuits for the purpose. He said with the widening and upgradation of Sidhra-Surinsar-Mansar road, flow of tourists to Surinsar and Mansar tourist spots will increase manifold giving fillip to economic activities in the area. Chief Minister emphasized for completing upgradation work of this 40.50 km road project within a year by executing the work in triple shifts. He said presently there is most J&K-friendly government at the centre and he himself has served with the present team of central leadership, as such, liberal funding is available to the state. “All of us have to avail this golden opportunity and work for speedy progress and development of the state”. Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma said that liberal funding is being made available to the state in all sectors and it is high time that massive infrastructure development is ensured. He said be it setting up of tourism development authorities or road connectivity or any other sector, massive infrastructure development has been launched all over the state. Referring to upgradation project of Sidhra-Surinsar-Mansar road, Mr. Sharma said that it will help facilitate a large number of Vaishno Devi and other pilgrim tourists visiting Surinsar and Mansar lakes which in turn raise socio-economic conditions of the people of the area. He also lauded ERA for executing prestigious development projects in the state. Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak dwelt on several road and bridge projects being constructed to open up all areas for speedy development. He said that with the establishment of tourism development authorities and creation of tourist circuits, tourism will get a big fillip. MLA Mr. Jugal Kishore thanked Mr. Azad for launching this prestigious road project which has fulfilled a long-pending demand of the people of the area. Ex-MLA Mr. Shivdev Singh lauded bold and historic decisions taken by Mr. Azad like creation of new districts, enacting Roshni act and launching massive infrastructure development in the state. |
