| High Power Committees to suggest utilization of SRTC assets | | | Jammu, February 28 Government contemplates to make commercial utilization of the valuable assets of the Jammu Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) in the state as a joint venture to bring out the corporation from huge losses. This was stated at a high level officers meeting here today presided over by the Minister for Transport Hakim Mohammad Yasin. The meeting deliberated threadbare use of non-productive assets and decided to utilize properly the assets of corporation at Srinagar, Pahalgam, Batote, Bikramchowk and Pathankot in the first phase. For the purpose two empowered committees headed by Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Srinagar were constituted, which would fix the modalities of the assets for its utilization after fulfilling the codal formalities and would report to the government with in 15 days, with their recommendations for the proper utilization of the assets. Speaking in the meeting, Mr. Yasin said that SRTC huge liabilities on account of CP/GP Fund, leave salary besides the corporation also intends to offer golden hand shake to its surplus employees and needs huge amount for the same. He said the issue has been discussed from time to time at various fora-including Board of Directors meetings, adding that the Board has approved utilization of SRTC land and other assets available at various places in the state. He said the government has now decided to make proper use of the assets belonging to the SRTC to bring out the corporation from its huge losses and fulfill the liabilities of its employees. Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Bank Dr. Haseeb Draboo, Principal Secretary Planning Mr. S. S. Kapoor, Commissioner Secretary Finance Mr. B. B. Viyas, Commissioner Secretary Transport Mr. Davinder Nargotra, Secretary Law Mr. A. H. Kochak, Secretary Housing Mtr. Naseema Lanker, Managing Director SRTC Mr. Sanjeev Verma and senior functionaries of the government and J&K Bank attended the meeting. |
