| Theft case solved by Doda police | | Illicit liquor seized, one held | | Doda | Feb 28 Doda Police has claimed to have solved the theft case in which some electronic items worth Rupees 1, 28,000 were stolen from a shop in Baina Gwari under the jurisdiction of Gandoh Police Station last month. An alleged thief was arrested in this regard and items worth Rupees 50,000 have also been recovered from his possession. Meanwhile, a bootlegger was arrested for the manufacturing of illicit liquor at Kandote and seized raw material from his possession. According to reports, some unknown persons committed theft in a shop at Baina Gwari on the intervening night of Jan 3-4, 2007. The thieves decamped with one computer, some mobile phones and other electronic and stationery items valuing 1, 28,000 rupees. A case in this regard was registered under FIR No 2/2007 under section 457,380 RPC. Thereafter, SSP Doda constituted a special team for investigation of the said case. During the course of investigation raids were conducted in different areas to nab the culprits. This morning, one of the accused involved in the case namely Ishtiaq Ahmed alias Babloo, son of Mohd Din Mir of Bharthi Gandoh was arrested and stolen property worth rupees 50,000 recovered from his possession. At his instance efforts were on to arrest his other associates at the earliest to affect the recovery of other stolen items. Meanwhile, Thathri police has arrested one person while manufacturing illicit liquor. The person has been identified as Sadhu Ram son of Madhu Lal of Kandote. Three litres of illicit liquor along with material and utensils being used for extraction of liquor were also seized from the spot. In this regard case FIR no 10/2007 under section 48-A, E Excise act stands register in police station Thathri and the search for the other accused and investigation of the case was going on.
