| Farooq, Omar express concern over stranded passenger | | Demands more sorties to clear the rush | | Jammu | Feb 28 National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah and President Omar Abdullah visited the stranded Kashmiri passengers at Jammu Bus Stand and expressed their concern for their welfare. The duo met the people and expressed their anguish at the lack of facilities for the stranded passengers. The stranded passenger complained that the administration was callous and not bothered about their plight. Dr. Abdullah and Omar Abdullah consoled the people and assured them that they will take up the matter with the Prime Minister of India and request him to ensure that the number of air sorties is increased so that the stranded passengers could reach Srinagar at the earliest. As per the release, Dr. Farooq Abdullah spoke to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today and thanked him for having started the additional air sorties to clear out the rush of stranded passengers. Omar Abdullah met the wailing mothers and children and offered them all possible assistance. The National conference President instructed the national Conference District committee Jammu, urban to immediately make arrangements for free food for the stranded passengers at the party headquarters – the Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan till the road opens. Omar Abdullah, later visited the Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan to over see the arrangements so that the stranded passengers could comfortably have their meals. Both National Conference Patron and the President expressed their deep concern and urged the Government that the stranded passengers should be provided for all facilities possible to ensure that they do not face any hardships on account of the road blockage. Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah were accompanied by Mohd Syed Akhoon, MLA Hazratbal.
