| Political, social activists join PDP | | | Jammu, Feb 28 – Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received a shot in the arm with the entry of some prominent social and political personalities from Jammu region in the party fold. They announced their decision to join PDP in presence of the party Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed here this morning. Ravinder Gupta, a noted social activist, Bharat Bhushan Gupta, President, Jammu-Poonch Transport Union and Sayeed Asghar Ali, son of a prominent political personality Peer Nizam-ud-Din from Kishtwar, joined PDP along with hundreds of their supporters. They pledged their support to the party for its pro-people polices and resolved to strengthen it in the interest of the welfare of the people of all the regions of the State. Welcoming their entry into the party, a PDP spokesman said that the policies and programs of PDP have started evincing enormous support among the people as they see it the only party with an unparalleled leadership that has maintained a consistent policy on issues concerning the State and its people. The spokesman said that it is now clear that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is the tallest among the contemporary political leaders in the State and he and his party have a vision and an agenda to pursue for the betterment of the people. He said the party would welcome all the like-minded people who want to join the movement that was started by Mufti in 1999 under the banner of PDP.
