| Naib Tehsildar Udhampur caught red handed while accepting bribe | | | JAMMU Feb 28 State Vigilance Organization arrested Mohammed Rafiq Naib Tehsidar I/C Land Acquisition Udhampur, who was caught red handed while accepting bribe of Rs.20000 at his residence last evening.
Giving details, a spokesman said that one Mohammed. Saleem R/o Gool Sangaldan lodged a written complaint with State Vigilance Organization alleging that Mohammed Rafiq Naib Tehsidar I/C Land Acquisition Udhampur is demanding illegal gratification from him in consideration for release of compensation money of Rs.2.15 lakh which has been sanctioned by the Government. in lieu of the damages caused to his house and shop on account of widening of Gool-Ramban road..
The spokesman said upon the complaint, a case FIR No.6/2007 P/S VOJ U/S 5(2) P.C Act 2006 r/w 161-RPC was registered and investigation taken up. In the course of investigation, officials of SVO laid a successful trap at Udhampur and caught Mohammed Rafiq, red handed while accepting Rs.20000 as bribe from the complainant at his residence. The tainted money was recovered from the possession of the accused in presence of independent witnesses. Mohd. Rafiq was taken into custody for further investigation.
