Every Halqa panchayat be developed as Model village: Sagar

SRINAGAR: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar has said that Government is contemplating to develop every Halqa Panchayat on pattern of Model village.
The Minister was addressing officers during a review meeting convened to discuss the status of construction of various Model villages and panchayat ghars in the State.
Director Rural Development Kashmir Mir Altaf Ahmed, SEs REW Jammu/Srinagar and executive engineers REW of different districts were present.
“The State Government is keen on the holistic development of the villages through planned and integrated development through coordinated efforts, prosperity in the rural areas depends on the economic development and the facilities available to that area”, the Minister said and maintained that with a view to uplift the rural poor, the provision of providing them the modern facilities become pre requisite and the concept of model villages is a step towards the same.
The Minister directed the officers to ensure that the work on different modern villages taken up in the State is speeded up, so that they are completed within the stipulated time and people living in these areas get the requisite benefit from the same. He said that the government is committed to provide quality living standard to the rural and far-flung areas of the State and in this regard every care is being taken to ensure the same. While referring to the Government’s endeavour to decentralize the powers to the grass-root level, the Minister said that it was due to the tireless efforts of the Government that a vibrant Panchayati raj system has been put in place by ensuring proper empowerment of the PRIs. He said that the government is also keen to ensure that the requisite infrastructural assets are created for the same and construction/ renovation of panchayat ghars is a step towards the same.
The Minister directed the officers to ensure the construction of the remaining panchayat ghars is speeded up so that the same are completed before December so that the same can be dedicated to different panchayats of their particular areas. He said that a regular monitoring should be ensured so that they are completed in accordance with the designs already approved and by using quality materials.
