DSWK reviews welfare schemes at Anantnag

ANANTNAG: Director Social Welfare Kashmir, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Khan reviewed the achievements under various centrally and State sponsored schemes of integrated child development projects and Social welfare department of Anantnag and Kulgam districts here today.
While giving the details of the achievements the Programme Officer ICDS Anantnag informed that 13 Child Development Projects are functioning in Anantnag and Kulgam districts and 3299 Anganwari workers and helpers are engaged at 1171 functional Anganwari Centres of the twin districts.
As many as 95800 beneficiaries of Anantnag district and 25452 beneficiaries of Kulgam district were provided supplementary nutrition worth Rs 7.40 crore and Rs. 3.86 crore respectively during the year 2012-13. Also a financial assistance of Rs. 1.63 crore was provided to 27000 adolescent girls under SABLA scheme.
It was also given out that 4622 beneficiaries of both the districts were provided incentive of Rs. 1.74 crore under Indira Gandhi Maternity Benefit (IGMB) Scheme.
The District Social Welfare Officer, Anantnag informed that under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) 11612 beneficiaries were provided financial assistance of Rs. 764.023 lakhs while as 8619 beneficiaries were provided Rs. 9.512 lakhs under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme in Anantnag district. As many as 27098 students were provided post-matric and pre-matric scholarships of Rs. 490.270 lakhs.
He also informed that Social Welfare Department is providing education and free accommodation to 24 orphan girls at Nari Niketen (Female Orphanage) at Mattan for whom expenditure incurred during the year 2012-13 under the Orphanage Scheme was Rs. 5.36 lakhs.
The District Social Welfare Officer Kulgam, all CDPO’s and Tehsil Social Welfare Officers of both the districts attended the meeting.
Later, the Director visited Nari Naketen Mattan and Kulgam and took stock of the facilities being provided to the inmates.
