The deceased have been identified as Baru Maming (11), Baru Yapi (18), Chulla Yapak (36), Sipi Tagriu (14), Chulla Lale (12) and Vataling Tatak (22). Terming the incident as "most unfortunate", Chief Minister Nabam Tuki announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1,50,000 each for next of kin of those killed in the incident as per relief norms. Meanwhile, Tuki has announced red alert in the whole state and issued directives to all the deputy commissioners and others concerned for making all necessary arrangements like temporary sheds, first aid, medical team, rescue team with adequate kits etc. The department of Disaster Management has also been directed to monitor the preparedness and take first hand information from all the districts. A report from East Siang district informed that Nari area was badly hit by a cyclone yesterday. The cyclonic storm was so massive that the uprooted trees and bamboo groves damaged several dwelling houses in the area, incurring heavy loss to the affected people. It also badly damaged rubber garden in Nari and Laimekuri area. The cyclone swept through Lumpo, Namey, Depi, Depi-Moli and Detak villages under Nari circle and Majulipur, Tako Gitung, Baikuntapur and Milonpur of Jonai circle (Assam) and badly hit power supply lines in those areas. The uprooted trees fell into the 33 KV power supply (main) line passing along the NH-52 at four different places and completely snapped power supply in the entire area. The Ruksin-Nari PWD road has also been blocked by uprooted trees and debris dumped by the cyclone which is yet to be cleared. Power department sources informed that the cyclone severely damaged the power lines in the area and it would take some time for its restoration.
