| Romeo Force celebrates Raising Day | | |

Counter Insurgency Force Romeo celebrated its 7th raising day at its Headquarters at Palma near Rajouri today. The celebrations commenced with a solemn ceremony at the War Memorial, where General Officer Commanding Romeo Force, Major General AC Soneja, VSM* laid a wreath in memory of the soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of Nation.
Romeo Force, a part of an elite counter insurgency force of the Army was operationalised on 01 March 2000. Since its raising, the Force has proved its mettle in tackling insurgency/terrorists in the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri. The Force has eliminated 1385 terrorists, apprehended 67, induced 39 ultras to surrender and recovered more than 1871 weapons from the possession of terrorists. Romeo Force also has a distinction of being the proud recipient of 721 honours and awards for gallantry and distinguished services to its credit, said a PIB (Defence Wing) release.
The Formation has been able to forestall terrorism through a focused campaign of winning hearts and minds under Operation Sadbhavana. |
