Jammu, 1 March The Indian Air Force would be reviewed by Hon’ble President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on 07 Mar 2007 at Air Force Station Chandigarh, a press release issued by PIB (Defence Wing), here today. The ‘Presidential Reviews’ are the historic occasions when the Supreme Commander of Indian Armed Force, the President of India decides to ceremoniously mark his appreciation. So far, three Presidential Reviews of IAF have taken place. The last Presidential Review was held in 1976. This is going to be the fourth Presidential Review. For the IAF, the occasion is historic as the event would take place when IAF is celebrating its Platinum Jubilee. In the Presidential Review, the static and air display of IAF’s entire fleet would be taking place, including an impressive parade by the Air Warriors. The other unique feature of the review would be that all the 41 Presidential colours / standards that were awarded by the President of India would be displayed. The aircraft and systems that would be on Static Display will comprise MIG-21, MIG-23, MIG-29, jaguar, Dornier, AVRO, AN-32, IL-76, Embraer, Chetak, Cheetah, MI-8, MI-17, ALH, MI-25, MI-26, Microlite, Canberra, M-2000, SU-30, Kiran (SKAT), HPT-32, Heron UAV , radars and missile systems. The Flying display would comprise fly pasts by MI-17, MI-26, ALH, Chetak, Cheetah, MI-35, HPT-32, Mixed formation of AVRO, AN-32 & Dorniers, Bisons, MIG-29, Mirage-2000, Jaguar.The Il-78 reflulers would be flying past with two Mirages plugged in. once over head, the Mirages would unplug and carryout a steep climb. The unique feature of the fly past would be the Jaguar formation in which 17 aircraft would fly in close proximity making a figure of ‘75’ signifying 75 years of IAFs existence. The IAFs SU-30 aircraft would perform the Trishul maneuver. Apart from this, the other displays like the combat air patrolling (CAP) by MI-35, special heliborne operations by MI-17 along with action by IAF’s special force ‘Garud’. The Sarang and Suryakiran aerobatic teams would also entertain all the viewers towards the end of the review. The full dress rehearsal of the ‘Presidential Review’ is planned on 05 March 07, said the release. |
