| Consumer Forum directs BSNL to compensate | | | Jammu, March 01 Divisional Consumer Protection Forum headed by District and Session Judge Mr. Khursheed Ahmed Lone has directed BSNL to pay compensation of Rs.10,000 to the complainant, Mr. G.N. Kanth for causing mental agonies and inconvenience to him on account of deficiency of services and unfair trade practice. An amount of Rs.2000 has also been awarded as cost of litigation in favour of the complainant. Divisional Consumer Forum also held that payment of bill though cheque sent by the post in the name of Accounts Officer, BSNL is the available mode of payment under the instructions issued by BSNL itself. BSNL has also been directed to restore the telephone connection of complainant forthwith. Mr. M. I. Kirmani and Ms Amina Farooqi were other members of the Bench which heard the case and delivered directions.
