Wani visits Dessa, inspects developmental works

DODA: Minister for PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Abdul Majid Wani accompanied by MLA Ramban Mr. Ashok Kumar today made an extensive tour of Dessa area and addressed various public meeting and redressed grievances of the people besides inspecting various ongoing developmental works in the region. While addressing public gatherings, Mr. Wani said that area specific attention is being given on road connectivity and other sectors to the hilly and unconnected habitation in the state. He said in these areas various roads and bridges are under execution and after completion of these projects the poor population living in these areas will be benefitted. The Minister also distributed cheques amounting to Rs. 5.5 lacs among the beneficiaries for construction/ repair of houses. The Minister announced that work on construction of three foot bridges over Dessa Nallah and two foot bridges over Bimna nallah will start soon which is a long pending demand of the people in the area.The Minister also announced various road projects which have been proposed for construction under PMGSY in the region which include 15 km Chilli- Dandhal to Lalore road, 11 km Chilly- Dandal road , 12 km Gaddi- Darosh road, 5 km Bhagwah – Paneeh road, 16 km Doda Beoli road – Kanhal, 13 km Doda – Dessa road to Bhatta, 15 km Doda –Dessa road to Mangal Thatha, 10 km Gai Mangal Thatha to Thana, 22 km Bimna – Malan via Sharekhi Chakka kanda, 6 km Bhagwah – Dessa road to Dugga, 9 km Beoli Bijarni road to Chakka, 7 km Saras Kastigarh road Chakra and 12 km Saras Kastigarh road to Khanti Shankhri.
Mr. Wani also conducted inspection of various works of bridges and link roads which include 26 Mtr Motorable Steel Girder Bridge over Gaddi Nallah at Mehchar whose super structure is complete and the approach road is under progress, 24 Mtr Motorable Steel Girder bridge over Dessa Nallah whose approach road is being constructed. Minister also inspected construction/ upgradation work of Dagrota- Chilli Morh road via Bopa Pul which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 5.25 crore under NABARD. The Minister also addressed various public gathering and redressed public grievances. Various demands were projected by the people on the occasion which include payment of land compensation of Bhagwah- Dal Draman defense road, repair/ upgradation of Beoli- Gaddi road, early completion of construction work of KGBV hostel in Bhagwah and GPS Bijarni, posting of local teaching staff in schools of the area, timely payment of MGNREA wages, Tents and ration to the earthquake affected people, extension of Thanote- Mehchar road, Bhopapul- Brahamdhar road, link road from Beerbagh – Kanhal , besides various other demands were also apprised to the minister.
While reacting over the demands, Mr. Wani directed BDO Bhagwah to take necessary steps and ensure payment of pending wages within 10-15 days, The Minister also directed the earthquake damage assessment teams to ensure that no affected people are left out in the survey so that they get timely relief. He also asked the people to approach concerned Sarpanch, Panch or Chowkidar in case their damage assessment was no done by the concerned teams.
