| Madan, Sham pay obeisance at Parshuram Temple | | | Early TImes REport
JAMMU, May 12: Parshuram Jayanti was celebrated with great gaiety and fervour at the Parshuram Mandir at Chanderbagha Ghat Akhnoor in which thousands of devotees paid obeisance. Member Parliament Jammu Poonch Madan Lal Sharma and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma were present on the occasion. While greeting the devotees on the occasion Madan Lal Sharma said that we should follow the teachings of the saints and serve the humanity. He said that we have to rise above the barriers of caste, creed and religion to strengthen our social fabric. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma lauded Brahaman Sabha and the people of Akhnoor for making elaborate efforts in completing the temple and asked the people to make concerted efforts for implementing various development projects which are underway in Akhnoor town. The minister said that Akhnoor town is having rich historical background and government is making earnest efforts to explore the religious tourism potential of this historic town. He said that government has started a mega programme for the Development of town and various infrastructural facilities have been created for the visiting pilgrims. Development of foreshore of river Chenab is the main attraction of the town where thousands of tourists enjoy the natural scenic beauty of river On the occasion the meritorious students were also felicitated. Havan was held on the occasion and thereafter Suresh Shastri a noted scholar delivered religious discourse. Shoba Yatra was also flagged off by President Brahman Sabha Akhnoor which passed through major bazaars of Akhnoor. Earlier, the Member Parliament along with the Minister laid foundation stone of community hall near the parshuram Temple which would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 24 lakh. Among others, Shiv Raina Joshi, President Bharman Sabha Akhnoor Mangu Ram Sharma, Thoru Ram Sharma, Krishan Gopal, Krishan Dutt Sharma, Mohan Lal, Inderparkesh, Suresh Magotra and other prominent persons were also present on the occasion. |
