| SVO produces challan against JA in illegal gratification case | | |

State Vigilance Organization produced challan in the court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu against Virender Gupta son of Suraj Prakash of Talab Tiloo, posted as Junior Assistant in the office of Collector Land Acquisition Jammu in a case FIR NO 13/2006 registered by the organization.
SSP Vigilance Jammu said here today that the instant case was registered on May 22, 2006 on a written complaint lodged by Ravinder Singh son of Gian Singh of Belicharana Jammu with the P/S Vigilance Organization Jammu alleging therein that land measuring 112 kanals under Khasra No 89 situated at Rakh Raipur owned by him and his brothers, sisters (co-shares) was acquired by revenue authorities for extension of Air Port at Jammu four years back.
The complainant further said that 80 per cent payment against the above acquired land was made in their favour and remaining 20 per cent plus 15 per cent Jabrana was lying pending till date with the revenue authorities.
For release of the balance payment, the complainant approached the office of Assistant Commissioner Revenue (Collector Land Acquisition) where Varinder Gupta, Junior Assistant demanded a bribe of Rs.1500 from him for release of remaining payment in question.
On this, he said, the vigilance organization laid a trap and caught the said Junior Assistant red handed while demanding and accepting Rs.1500 as illegal gratification from the complainant in presence of the independent witnesses, the SSP added.
