| Bhalla distributes cheques worth Rs. 3.60 lakh among 300 physically challenged | | | JAMMU | MAR 02
Saying that the coalition government is committed to provide all possible assistance to the downtrodden and needy sections of the society, MLA Gandhi Nagar Constituency Mr. Raman Bhalla assured to help the underprivileged and provide them financial support.
The MLA was speaking after distributing cheques among 300 physically challenged beneficiaries who were provided cheques worth Rs 1200 each with effect from September 2006 to December 2006 amounting to Rs. 3,60,000.
On the occasion Mr. Bhalla expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad for providing the much needed financial assistance to this section of the society. He said that due to the tireless efforts of Mr. Azad, the scheme could be implemented and benefit provided to the deserving. He said that the remaining beneficiaries including widows, physically challenged, old-aged pensioners, etc would also be covered soon and the benefit will be provided to them shortly. Mr. Bhalla said that efforts will be made to bring the left over areas under the scheme so that the sufferers could avail the benefits.
Mr. Bhalla also thanked UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for taking keen interest in the welfare of the needy sections of the state. He said that because of their special attention a number of schemes have been implemented and benefits provided.
On the occasion former Deputy Mayor Mrs. Rani Bloeria, Councilors Mr. Tilak Raj Gupta, Mr. P. Sharma, Mr. Kulbushan Sharma, Ch. Dawrika, Ms. Santosh Mahajan, Mr. Jaswant Singh Sodan, Mr. Mahinder Singh, Ms Rita Devi and Ms Asha Devi, District Social Welfare Officer, Jammu Mr. Khalid Jahangir and Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Ms Champa Sharma besides prominent citizens were present.

Shree Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti celebrated at Udhampur
UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 02 (INFO) – Like other parts of the country, 630th Birth Anniversary of Shree Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj is also celebrated at Guru Ravi Dass Temple here today with great dedication and solemnity.
On this occasion thousands of devotees have paid obeisance to the revered Guru Ji. In this connection, Shree Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Udhampur has organized an interactive religious programme in which local devotees and number of devotees from adjoining villages were present.
Nagar Kirtan Shoba Yatra was taken out which after passing through various bazaars of the town finally culminated at Sat Sang Bhawan, Ravi Dass Chowk, Udhampur. On the occasion Sabha also organized a Shardanjali Samaroh to pay obeisance to Guru Ravi Dass Ji.
Reputed religion Saints urged upon the people to present on the occasion to follow the noble ways shown by Guru Ji. They said no religion is above humanity and we should serve the society with true spirit.
Sabha had also organized Guru Ka Langer for devotees and thousands of people to parshad.
President of District, Shree Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Udhampur, Mr. Thakur Dass presented vote of thanks to distinguished guests and other sections of society for there valuable presence to grace the occasion.
