| Highway to remain close today | | | Jammu, Mar 4 While more than three-thousand vehicles, including passenger vehicles, today crossed Panthial at Ramban, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway would remain close for vehicular movement on Monday so as to carry the repair work on the damaged road. Official sources said that in spite of the rains the Jammu-Srinagar Highway remained open for the vehicular movement today and more than three-thousand vehicles were allowed to cross Panthial from Srinagar to Jammu. Deputy Inspector General of Police (Traffic) Muhammad Amin Shah told that the damaged road stretch requires more repair work. “The highway was opened for meet the emergency arising out of the continuous closure of the road for more than nine days but the damaged portion of the road has not been fully repaired”, he said. “We have now decided that to suspend the vehicular movement for one day on Monday so that the Beacon officials can carry on the repair work”, he added.
