| AIYF demands formulation of nation youth policy | | | JAMMU, MAR 5 Demanding installation of Bhagat Singh statue in Parliament annex, the State committee of All India Youth Federation (AIYF) has regretted that very little attention has been paid towards the development of youth in the state and demanded formulation of national youth policy and creating of special youth fund. These observations were made at the 2nd youth conference of the Federation held here today with Comrade Om Prakash AIYF state present in chair Comrade Devender Reddy General Secretary, Pritpal Singh President AIYF and Comrade Kanwal Dev State CPI Secretary were the chief guests. The speakers at the conference observed though 54 per cent population of India is under 24 years of age, still the government is not ready to provide them jobs and maintained that over five crore youth are enrolled in 914 employment exchanges across the country. Expressing grave concern over the growing unemployment problem, the Conference held that the problem was increasing with every passing day adding that the AIYF would fight against the anti-youth and anti- people policies and privatization of education. Delegates from various parts of the state attended the conference and discussed the Federation’s activities. A Federation handout said that the general house was addressed by various prominent youth leaders, besides Comrade Abdul Rehman Turkru MLC and Prof D K Rampaul, who spoke on the burning problems being faced by the youth the state. The speakers were also critical over the rising prices of essential commodities and urged the government for effective measures to arrest this trend
