Protestors demand information on missing youths
3/4/2007 11:00:45 PM
SRINAGAR, MAR 4
Hundreds of people today staged a rally here demanding whereabouts of youths who allegedly went missing in the custody of security forces.
Shouting slogans, the protestors marched through the main road from Khankah-e-Moulla in downtown city up to nerve centre Lal Chowk and returned peacefully, official sources said.
The rally was planned by the families and neighbours of Mohammad Sidiq Sofi and Javid Ahmad Shalla, both residents of Khankah-e-Moulla who allegedly went missing in the custody of the BSF in 1992.
They were later joined by family members of other missing youths.
The participants also sought an independent probe into the custodial disappearances.
