| Militant killed in Baramulla | | |

Security forces gunned down a militant in Baramulla district of North Kashmir after a brief encounter, late last evening. Some arms and ammunition was also recovered from the site of encounter.
According to reports, acting on a tip off security forces launched a search operation in Gund Jehangir area of district Kupwara, late last evening. When the troops were zeroing in they came under heavy fire from a hiding militant leading to a fierce gunbattle, the spokesman said adding, the troops managed to gun down the militant after a brief encounter.
The identification of the slain militant could not be ascertained immediately. Some arms and ammunition including an AK rifle were recovered from the site of the encounter.
