BJYM launches signature campaign
3/5/2007 10:42:50 PM
JAMMU MARCH 05
As a part of its nation-wide campaign aimed at garnering public support to hang Afzal Guru, State Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM), under the leadership of its State Secretary Surinder Singh, launched a signature campaign at Guru Bakshi Nagar here today. The campaign was inaugurated by BJP State General Secretary and BJYM Prabhari Shamsher Singh Manhas in presence of party leaders and morcha activists.
Manhas on this occasion, criticized the Congress led UPA Government for adopting different yard sticks for Afzal Guru, a terrorist responsible for the Parliament attack case. He said Guru has been held guilty even by the highest court of the country and deserves no clemency. The Congress, instead of honouring the verdict of the Supreme Court, is trying to grant him clemency for vote politics, he alleged and declared that BJYM will further intensify its campaign and see to it that Guru is hanged at the earliest.
Surinder Choudhary who spoke on the occasion said that the appeasement policy adopted by the Congress led coalition at the Centre and the State are encouraging anti-national elements thus posing serious threat to the unity and integrity of the country ‘A terrorist is a terrorist and he should be punished for this crime’, Choudhary asserted and added ‘grant of clemency to Guru or any other such terrorist will only demoralize nationalist forces and declared that Yuva Morcha activists will not allow Congress to surrender before terrorists for petty political gains’, a Morcha handout said.
Prominent among those who took part in the signature campaign included Romesh Arora, Sat Sharma, Munish Sharma, Sahil Gupta, Pranav Gupta, Sheetal Baru, Parimoksh Seth, Vikrant Singh, Rakesh Verma, Anu Jaswal, Amit Bhandari, Ishan Mahajan, Parul Gupta and Sanjay Baru.
