| Rich tributes paid to martyr Parveen Singh | | | JAMMU, MAR 06 Balidan Divas was observed at village Sattowali R S Pura in memory of Shaheed Parveen Singh, who laid down his life while fighting with the militants at Kishtwar on January 18, 2003. A large number of people were present at the function to pay their tributes to the martyr. Former Minister and MLC R S Chib who was chief guest at the function laid a wreath on the portrait of late Parveen followed by Col M K S Rawat and Reeta Devi widow of the martyr. While paying rich tributes to the martyr , Chib appreciated the role of Army, security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir Police in fighting the militancy in the state and said that Parveen Singh was one of the martyrs who sacrificed his life for the sake of mother land the asked the younger generation to draw inspirations from such martyrs. The Congress leader also hailed the decision of Prime Minister ruling out withdrawal of troops from the state till militancy is completely wiped out and criticized all those forces, advocating for troops withdrawal and scrapping of Armed Forces Special Powers Act. Paying his tributes to the martyr Parveen Singh, Col MKS Rawat said that the security forces, despite their pre-occupation to deal with the militants, have always been ready to help the civilian population residing along the borders.
