| Omar asks centre to stop harassment of Kashmiris | | |

Omar Abdullah President J&K National conference and MP has urged the Union Government to take immediate steps to stop the harassment of Kashmiris residing outside the state. Referring to the recent incident where four Kashmiris were picked from New Delhi on the pretext that they were involved in militancy activities, Omar said he has received were involved in militancy activities, Omar said he has received various deputations both in Delhi and in Kashmir claiming that the four Kashmiris are ordinary fruit traders and are innocent. He urged the Union Government to take emergent steps to release these individuals and not cause harassment to them if they are innocent and not involved in any militancy related activities. Omar said this practice of Harassing the innocent Kashmiris will further alienate the people of Kashmir and will be detrimental to the cause of the country. Every individual, who is the citizen of this country, has a right to his individual freedom and right to own dignity and this should not be compromised in any case, he added. Omar urged the Union government to draw out a mechanism in close consultation with the State Government to ensure that no innocent Kashmiri, anywhere in the country, is put to any sought of harassment. He said all the State governments before taking any such action against any Kashmiri should get in touch with the J&K State Police and very the credentials before they are picked up for even the purpose the interrogation. Omar said he has written to the Prime Minister of India and the Union Prime Minister as well in this regard and so is hopeful that no other Kashmiri anywhere in the country will be put to any such harsh treatment.
