| Shrine Board signs MoU with BPCL on yatra slips | | | JAMMU, MARCH 6 As Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine is emerging as a premier pilgrimage centre in North India with annual number of pilgrims crossing 69 lakh mark last year, the Board managing the yatra has roped in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Government of India Undertaking, for issuing registration slips through its outlets across the country. Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Dr Arun Kumar signed an agreement with Executive Director BPCL, Mr Sanjay Krishnamurti here. Additional Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, Mr Puneet Kumar and top executives of the BPCL were also present. Dr Kumar said that tremendous increase in yatra influx had made the Board to devise ways for better management of Yatra. ‘Providing quality services to the devotees has been our main endeavour’, he added As per present system, Yatra Registration for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine is being done either at Yatra Registration Counter, Katra or through the Official website of Board by using credit card facility. The Board, as part of its commitment to provide more convenient facilities to the devotees, has now further extended its facility of Yatra Registration through the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. The yatra slips would now be available at BPCL petrol pumps across the country. The SMVDU would be issuing its preprinted and bar-coded Yatra registration slips through the BPCL in the mutually selected In and Out convenience stores and petrol pumps across the country. In the first phase, BPCL Petrol Pumps in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Gujarat will be operationalised and the facility will be extended to other locations in a phased manner. The BPCL will be allowed to collect Rs 10 per Yatra slip, maximum upto six devotees per slip, against Yatra Registrations Slips issued to the Yatries as service charge incurred for issuance by BPCL, a spokesman of SMVDSB said.
