| Workshop on “use of diffraction methods in condensed matter” held at JU | | | Jammu Deptt. Of Physics and Electronics, Jammu University organized a workshop on ‘use of diffraction methods in condensed matter’ in collaboration with UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research, Mumbai centre. 35 participants from outside the state, 25 local participants and 15 resourceful persons from all parts of country were present in the conference. The main theme of workshop is to develop the linkages between the universities and the pioneer research institutions of the country. Javed Mustafa Mir, Minister for Science and Technology was the Chief Guest and Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu presided over the function. Mir welcomed the participants and assured that all help will be provided to support science and technology related programmes of the university or of the state. Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, while speaking on the occasion highlighted the achievements of Physics Deptt. and described it as one of the best departments in the university. He thanked the UGC-DAE consortium for opting Jammu University as centre for organizing the workshop in Jammu University. Prof. Dhananjay Panday from Banaras Hindu University delivered the key note address. He demonstrated the all ongoing techniques being used in the field of condensed matter. Dr. P.S. Goyal, Centre, Director UGC-DAE-CSR, Mumbai centre spoke over the activities of UGC-DAE consortium. He also appreciated the research work being carried out by Deptt. of Physics & Electronics. Prof. Naresh Padha, HOD of Physics and Electronics, University of Jammu presented a brief of the Deptt. of Physics & Electronics. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr V. Siruguri, Convenor of workshop.
