| Senior defence personnel to get management training | | | New Delhi, Aug 03: Joining hands with leading management institutes, Ministry of Defence is planning to conduct courses for senior officers of the three services to enable them to find alternate jobs after retirement.
"We have a large number of officers retiring every year due to different reasons. And we are committed to provide them with alternate job opportunities," Director General for Resettlement Harwant Krishan told reporters here today.
He said around 3000 officers retire from Services every year and in order to capitalise on the huge opportunities in the booming industrial sector, the Resettlement Directorate is now concentrating on giving management training to the senior officers.
Krishan was speaking after an interaction with industry representatives to explore opportunities for rehabilitating retired defence personnel.
He said according to an estimate by SEBI, 3000-4000 Director-level officials are required in the corporate sector and "we are trying to tap this opportunity for our senior officers." "We have already conducted management courses specially designed for armed forces. The courses have been condensed to six months rather than the two-year programmes in IIMs," Krishan said.
A one-week Director's Programme for senior officers in collaboration with the Management Development Institute will be conducted at Gurgaon from August seven. |
