Mr Anan Sharema and other leaders said it was unbfortunate that while the Government subsidised the air fare ofr muslims visiting Saudi Arabia for performing the Haj pilgrimage the Hindus were being taxed for offering prayers in their holy shrines. They demanded a tax free pilgrimage for those visiting Mata Vaishnov Devi shrine.
However, various social organisations have supported the Shrine Board decision. They said that allowing petrol stations to seel registration tickets would facilitate pilgrims as they will not be forced to waste time in long lines in front of a small number of counters for getting the registration slips.(KIP)
