| NOC from HRD ministry not needed for student visas | | | NEW DELHI, MAR 8 The government has done away with the need of obtaining No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Human Resource Development Ministry for foreign students to get a visa, Rajya Sabha was informed today. Giving details about the liberalised visa regime for the foreign students, the Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed in a reply said the student visa has been made co-terminus with the duration of course, or five years, whichever is earlier. There is also no restriction on the number of courses that a student can pursue and one was free to change course or institute, or both. Student visa will also be granted for industrial training, summer project and internship. It will be extended for the students requiring to clear the supplementaries. The minister said delay in grant of visa at the Indian missions abroad has mainly been due to foreign students not fulfilling the prescribed conditions concerning grant of student and research visa |
