Jammu | Mar 8 To celebrate International woman’s day, BJP Mahila Morcha, under the leadership of State Morcha President Usha Choudhary, today organized a programme at party headquaters, in which over 500 women from all walks of life participated. A number of veteran activists of BJP Mahila Morcha including Surekha Choudhary, Vinod Sharma, Raj Sehgal and Raj Rani were honoured for their contribution to strengthen the party in the state. Different problems pertaining to women were also discussed. BJP State President Ashok Khajuria, while addressing the women, said that a balanced development of the society can be possible if women participate in all works of life and responsibility rests on male members to give equal status and respect to women. He said that the BJP has always stood for equal rights to women and severe punishment to those who commit crimes against women. Usha Choudhary in her address, said that women have not gained equal rights in the society and the crime against women is on the increase. She expressed grave concern over the present trend of eliminating female child before her birth and said that women too are responsible for the present on going problems and should take oath not to encourage such crime. It was unanimously resolved that the BJP Mahila Morcha will soon launch a campaign on the issue of reservation to women in parliament and assemblies. Prominent among those who participated in the function included Pinky Gupta, Anjali Khanna, Sakeena Bano, Raj Rani, Jamwal, Pumima Sharma, Sushma Manhas, Priya Sethi, Kamla Gupta, Geeta thakur, Rajni Sethi, Kiran Salathia, Nirmal Mahajan, Raj Sehgal, Sweety Koul, Sheela Handoo, Raj Rani Gupta, Rekha Khajuria and Jastoria.
