Jammu, Aug 16: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed concern over the humanitarian crises in Kishtwar and other adjoining areas, which remained under curfew for the last around 7 days. In a statement, State Secretary PDP (Youth) Ishtiyaq Hussain Waza said that the clashes and subsequent violence in Kishtwar was a matter of concern but the government's response and the way of punishing innocent people was condemnable. He said that from the last 7 days the administration has imposed curfew in the district creating shortage of essential commodities and medicines. The curfew and other restrictions were supposed to be temporary measures to check the violence but the government has done nothing else to restore normalcy in the area, he said adding that poor people, mostly from the labour class, were at the verge of starvation as the government was prolonging the imposition of curfew. He added that the continuous curfew and curb on the movement of people has only exposed the tall claims of the government and ruling parties regarding restoration of normalcy in the region. The PDP leader further appealed the people to ensure peace and brotherhood and foil nefarious designs of those who want to divide the people in the name of region and religion. |
