J&K requires increased attention of all nationalists: Prof Gupta
8/16/2013 10:09:42 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 16: Former union minister Prof Chaman Lal Gupta today said that need for peace, harmony and balanced development, is all the more important in Jammu and Kashmir because of its being under constant attack of theoretic state of Pakistan and this requires increased attention all the nationalists.
In a statement Gupta impressed upon all the people to remain vigilant to frustrate the designs of enemy agents, disruptionists and separatists which was in their own interest as also the country.
Addressing functions in connection with Independence Day in his Jammu West Constituency, he said that it was no doubt that it was difficult to get freedom from foreigners 'but it is equally needs vision and vigil to protect this hard achieved independence, especially in a state like J&K where there is no dearth of internal
and external threats.'
Prof Gupta recalled that because of Pakistani aggression not only one third territory of this State is under occupation of the enemy 'but also there has been total cleanse of the minorities.'
"It is over two decades now that in wake of cross border terror the minorities were forced out from the vale of Kashmir. After the valley the old district of Doda was on their target. In this background what has been happening in this belt including Kistwar, it can be visualized that recent painful happenings in Kishtwar and elsewhere are not localized affair," he said.
The former Union Minister regretted that not to say of the permanent settlement of migrants from the Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir, 'no serious efforts seem to be there for return and rehabilitation of migrants from the valley of Kashmir as also of Jammu region.'
"These people thus have come to be refugees within their own country," he added.
Prof Gupta stressed the need for total review of the Kashmir policy by the centre especially with regard to Pakistan, particularly the cross border terror. He appealed to people, more so, the activists to work for unity and harmony amongst the common masses.
