| Rana condemns police action against civilians | | | JAMMU MARCH 9
Member Legislative Assembly from Mendhar Javid Rana has strongly condemned police action in Harni area of Mendhar where GOS men had beaten innocent villagers and demanded a judicial probe.
Expressing his serious concern over rise in such incidents, Rana has urged the Chief Minister to order a judicial inquiry and take effective remedial measures to ensure that the police perform its basic role of giving protection to the life and property of the common man instead of harassing and killing them.
‘Such acts are creating sense of mistrust and alienation among the common masses’, he said and ‘described it a very dangerous trend’ that needs to be arrested firmly.
He has also asked the government to register case against the erring police personnel and called for constituting a committee to probe into the episode apart for conducting enquiry of custodial killings and in fake encounters during the last 4-5 years in Poonch and Rajouri districts in general and Mendhar in particular.
