Et Report

Jammu, Aug 16 : Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today criticized the role of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries for withdrawing the support to their strike call given by the party in solidarity with Kishtwar Hindu victims. The party also castigated separatist leaders for spewing venom against Village Defence Committees and warned the government not to take any measures to disband them. Addressing a press conference at Shakti Ashram in Jammu, Dr. Ramakant Dubey, President VHP J&K State rejected the apprehensions shown by National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah and the separatist leaders from the valley as baseless regarding the VDC's. Dubey had cautioned the Govt. not to take any hasty decision about VDC's which are manned by the locals, designated as Special Police Officers, which were constituted to protect the villagers from militant incursions and were constituted by the Govt itself. "Separatists and their affiliates have unleashed a malicious propaganda of disbanding the VDC's that were setup in 1990 to resist the militancy," he said.VHP asked for making public the details of the agreement which was signed between the representatives of Chamber of Commerce and Industries and J&K Government to provide compensations and relief to the residents of Kishatwar District, who's properties were vandalised during the recent clashes in which minorities were attacked by the majority community during communal clashes. Dr. Ramakant Dubey said that Vishav Hindu Parishad, which had announced on August 12 that they will extend their Jammu Bandh call for another 24 hours and had extended their Bandh call till the evening of August 13, which was unfortunately not supported by the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Traders Federation of Jammu, the supportive constituents of Jammu Bandh Call.Dr. Dubey had asked the reasons from the representatives of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Jammu for withdrawing support to their strike call.
