Recruitment of Postmen, other staff on Aug 31

Jammu, Aug 16 : The last date for the receipt of the application for the post of postmen and other staff has been extended on August 31 it was stated by John Samuel, Chief Post Master General J&K , while addressing a press conference here today.
The date was extended due to the curfew conditions in many parts of Jammu region in the last few days. "In order to facilitate the candidates to get adequate time to apply for the posts of postmen and multi-tasking staff, we have decided to extend the date" said Chief Postmaster General, Jammu and Kashmir.
Postman is an ambassador of Department of Posts and his/her job is to serve the society by providing high quality postal services that meet the expectations of the customers. The role of Postman in Post Office is very significant with responsibility for Post Office operations, mail delivery, mail carriage and related postal services.
He further announced that there will be 112 posts of Postmen and Multi Tasking Staff, for which the recruitment will be made. The minimum qualification will be matriculation and the recruitment will be purely based on merit in the Aptitude test to be conducted in October 2013. It has been decided that there will be no interview for the recruitment and it will be only based on the marks obtained in the Aptitude test.
With the business volumes of India Post in Jammu and Kashmir has gone up by manifold in the recent years the Department of Posts has initiated process to recruit Postmen &other supporting Staff to meet the business requirements.
The department in J&K,the Chief PMG said, has also initiated process of filling up of over 200 posts of GraminDakSevaks for strengthening the postal services in Villages and offering efficient services through Brnach Post Officesfunctioning in villages. In Jammu and Kashmir we have six postal divisions Jammu, Srinagar, Udhampur, Rajouri, Baramulla and Ladakh and the concerned divisional heads are recruiting the men for Branch post offices.
