| Women Awareness camp organized at Marh | | | JAMMU | March 09 As part of the celebrations of International Women’s Day, the Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, Jammu organized one day Women Awareness camp at Marh, near Jammu yesterday. Nearly 50 rural women drawn from different ICDS Projects of Marh were apprised about the issues concerning ‘Female Feticide, Save the Girl Child, Literacy, Women Empowerment through exhibition of Video Cassettes, Photo Exhibitions, oral communication. Apart from this, challenges for women in 21st century and their role in strengthening vibrant democracy were also discussed during the day long function. Smt. Kanchan Bala, CDPO, Marh, who presided over the function, disclosed that under ‘Kishori Shakti Yojana’ three camps for 6-day duration each were organized recently in the Marh block. She informed that presently 2-month vocational course on ‘Beauty Culture’ is being imparted to 20 adolescent girls in Akalpur village of Marh block by the Project for making them self-reliant. A series of publicity programs aimed at creating awareness among women are being organized by all the Filed Publicity units operating in J&K State for empowering them to participate in all developmental activities, parliamentary system to know their Nation. Films, Photo Exhibitions, Group Discussions, Song and drama programs, Seminars/symposia etc have been organized on the occasion.
