Poets are messengers of peace and social reforms: Prem Sagar

A Multilingual Mushaira was organized by Department of Information, District Information office, Kathua at Ramisht College of Education, Kudara, Basohli today.
Minister of State for Finance, Revenue, Law, and planning, Mr. Prem Sagar Aziz was the chief guest on the occasion.
Principal Degree College, Basohli, Mr. A.K. Malhotra presided over the function.
Among others Tehsildar, Basohli, S. Amarjit Singh, District Information Officer, Kathua, Mr. Suram Sharma, Principal, JNV, Basohli, Mr. Vararsi Dass, Chairman Ramisht College of Education, Mr. Rajinder Sharma, Principal, Ramishat College of Education, Mr. R.C. Bhagat, Executive Engineer, PWD R&B, Basohli, Mr. B.D. Sharma, Galaxy of media persons, intectuals, Poets, Prominent citizens, Tehsil officers, Prominent citizens, Tehsil officer, Professors and students were present on the occasion.
The poets who recited their creations include Dr. A.K Malhotra, Dr. Bhushan Sharma, Kishori Lal, Subash Raina, N.D. Sharma, Muzaffar Hussain, Ashraf Nadeem, Khajoor Singh, Uttam Singh Paathania, Karnail Singh, Devinder Premi, Bhupinder Singh, Pushkar Chand, Surekha Rani and many others. They read out their wittings in Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Dogri which were highly appreciated by the audience and kept them spellbound.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prem Sagar Aziz appreciated the role of Information Department for promoting culture and languages by way of organizing Mushairas. The minister lauded the efforts of poets in promoting cultural, lingual unity. Poets are the messengers of peace and social reforms and they can play a vital role in rooting out social evils from the society, the minister added. The minister said that the poets help in promoting cross cultural contexts and express their inner feelings through their writings.
The minister invited the audience in the mela being organized at Sarthal in tehsil Bani during first week of June, 2007.
Earlier, the minister along with others lit the traditional lamp.
Later District Information Officer, Kathua, Mr. Suram Sharma presented vote of thanks.
