| Total social justice to women need of hour : Charak | | | Jammu, March 09 Advocating total social justice to the females at all levels, Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak has said that gender discrimination makes hurdles in the process of development. Addressing at a function organized by Catholic Social Service society at Dollian Jammu to observe international women day last evening, Charak said that men and women have been granted equal status by all religions adding that there should be no deviation in this universal principal of equal rights. He said that it is unfortunate that we as parents let our sons and daughters to think that they differ in their rights. ‘In reality daughters are more affectionate and obedient towards their elders and parents as compared to the sons’, Mr. Charak maintained and said that giving equal respect to sons and daughters should start from parents that will ultimately make the society to recognize males and females as equals. He said that observing women day for mere deliberations and sloganeering is not enough to give social justice to the women but a practical and sincere approach needs to be adopted and followed in this regard. Mr.Charak said that reservation for women in certain areas has helped in fading away gender discrimination, adding that reservation for women in legislatures and panchayats be strictly followed so that the elected women representatives can highlight the issues related to females. On the occasion a prayer meeting was held followed by skits by some feminist groups depicting the gender discrimination and deprivation of rights to the females. Various women groups from R.S.Pura, Bishnah, Smailpur and Bari Brahamna attended the function.
