| Cross-LoC truck service to be launched in few months | | | NEW DELHI | MAR 9 A cross-LoC truck service is expected to be launched in a few months and modalities in this regard will be discussed at the next week's Foreign Secretary-level talks in Islamabad to launch the fourth round of Composite Dialogue. At the two-day talks from March 13, India will press for effective action on ground by Pakistan on its concerns over cross-border terrorism as there is no decline in infiltration and terror infrastructure is still in tact. The two sides will discuss liberalisation of visa regime and discuss ways to promote visits by pilgrims. The truck service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is expected to be launched in summer, official sources said here today. The modalities for this will be discussed at the talks Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon will have with his Pakistani counterpart Riaz Mohammad Khan on March 13-14. The two countries will also discuss ways to ease travel by the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service launched in April 2005. India is laying stress on such confidence-building measures benefitting people of Jammu and Kashmir as it feels the issue concerning the state could be addressed through humanitarian means. |
