Charak inaugurates Jammu chapter of INTACH

Jammu, March 10
Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak inaugurated the Jammu Chapter of India National Trust for Art and Cultural heritage (INTACH) at Jammu University camps today.
The function was among others attended by Maj. General L.K. Gupta, Member (INTACH) Mr. Jhanvich Sharma, Former Director General Information and Public Relation Mr. S. P. Sahani and Secretary Tourism Mr. Nayeem Akhtar.
The Minister while expressing his joy and happiness on the launch of INTACH emphasized for preservation of cultural heritage of the state. While highlighting the steps taken by the state government in this regard, the Minister said that the government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has sought the services of heritage preservation experts and has also constituted a heritage society for the purpose. Lauding the role of Union Tourism Minister Mrs. Ambika Soni, Mr. Charak said that the patronship of Mrs. Soni has supported the state government in launching the repairs and renovation work of Mubarak Mandi Complex. He hoped that every step in this behalf would be taken after proper counseling and thorough discussions on the subject with concerned technical persons. The meeting attended by prominent personalities, scholar and students appreciated the launch of INTACH in Jammu division.
Referring to the preservation of centuries old artifacts of the state, Mr. Charak urged upon one and all to make coordinated efforts for preservation of monuments, shrines, ancient buildings, coins and other articles of vital significance. He directed concerned officers to work with zeal and do their best on government level for preservation of cultural heritage of the state.
Several dynamic persons in their presentations expressed their deep concern for the conservation of the unique heritage and cultural assets and said that the promotion of tourism would boost sustainable development, generate employment and pave the way to greater prosperity of the region.
The Convener of Jammu Chapter Mr. S. M. Sahni presented a formal vote of thanks.
