The State Unit of the Samajwadi Party celebrated World Women’s Day at its party headquarters here today in which prominent lady workers of the party participated and passed several resolutions.
In of the resolutions passed by the party great concern was felt over the widening gap of sex ratio and claimed that in some of the states the male-female ratio was alarmingly coming down. By another resolution, the party has urged the government to enforce laws strictly regarding abortion of female foetus.
The party President Sheikh Abdul Rehman, who presided over the function, urged the government to grant political reservation to the women besides implementing ‘Kanya Dhan’ scheme on the pattern of UP, under which the educational expenses up to Matriculation level are born by the government in respect of BPL category families.
