| CS chairs meeting of crises management committee | | | Jammu, March 13 A high level Meeting of “Crises Management Committee” was convened today under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary C. Phunsog to discuss arrangements made for tackling damages caused due to incessant rains and heavy snowfall in the state. It was stated in the meeting that all the routes connecting district headquarters with capital cities are open for traffic excluding Jammu-Srinagar national highway, which is closed for traffic at Panthal due to landslides. However, the passengers stranded between Banihal and Ramsu were brought back to Srinagar. It was also stated that ration items to drivers and cleaners of the stranded vehicles have been made available and food arrangements for about one thousand stranded passengers at Jammu Bus Stand have also been made. These passengers would be allowed to leave for Srinagar by road tomorrow. Regarding damages of the houses in Jammu division, the meeting was rmed that about fifty houses have been damaged due to torrential rains and snowfall and four persons are reported missing in Kathua district. The Chief Secretary directed the concerned officers to put in place all necessary arrangements and expedite the process of restoring power and water supply in all the affected areas of the state. He appreciated the efforts of Power Development Department for restoring power supply in most of the affected areas and advised officers to make available power, water and other essential services to vital institutions especially hospitals on war footing. He also directed concern department to put into operation dewatering pump sets in low lying areas for removal of accumulated water.
