| Aijaz inspects under construction Gen Zorawar Singh Auditorium | | | JAMMU | MARCH 13 Minister of State for Higher and Technical Education Mr Aijaz Ahmad Khan accompanied by Principal Secretary Education Mr Ashok Angurana, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University Prof. Amitabh Mattoo and Administrator, Auditorium Dr. D. L. Choudhary inspected Rs 20 crore project under execution Gen. Zorawar Singh Auditorium at Jammu University today. The complex with basement and other three floors houses Rinchen Bzangpo and Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani Museum and Art Gallery, TV Studio, Children Art Studio, Brain storming Room, Exhibition Hall, F.M. Radio Media centre, Conference Hall and Balcony. Dr. Choudhary and Vinay Thussu apprised the Minister about the facilities being made available in the auditorium. Khan evinced keen interest in the Art and Photo Exhibition and expressed satisfaction over the work done by the university authorities. The Minister was rmed that the conference hall would on its completion accommodate 1400 persons at a time. He was further rmed that the stage would be hydraulic with in-built audio-visual facility and Dol system music effects. The Minister also inspected high-class cafeteria in the ground floor of the auditorium and enquired about the facilities being provided to the students in cafeteria. Later an interactive session was held in the Administrative block in which senior faculty members and cultural secretaries of several departments of the university participated. Addressing the session, Aijaz while stressing for coordination and cooperation between state government and university autonomous body said that the state government is always ready to support the new initiatives of Jammu University aimed at providing latest and hi-tech education to the student community. He assured of all possible financial support from the government in all spheres of educational activities. Aijaz urged upon faculty members to bring reforms in educational system and conduct of examinations in order to avoid non-profitable traditional courses. Emphasizing for introduction of international trends in educational curriculum and syllabi, Aijaz hoped that in view of progress made Jammu University under the dynamic Vice Chancellor Prof Amitabh Mattoo, the day is not far when most of the students of the state would find their place in international universities, research institutions and high standard work places. Principal Secretary Ashok Angurana on this occasion while appreciating the progress made by Jammu University said that the credit of academic excellence achieved by this institution goes to the University authorities and state government. Angurana stressed for research based approach to the education and said that this trend would lead to globalization and market linkages between various universities of the world. He said that Chief Minister and Education Minister are very keen to upgrade the standard of education in the state. He said for any new venture, the state government would remain at beck and call of university authorities. Prof. Amitabh Mattoo while welcoming the chief guest expressed his joy over the first interactive session presided over by Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Minister of State for Higher Education and alumni of the university. He said that the state government led by Azad and university authorities are committed to ensure first-rate education to the students community of the state. He said that his management would go strictly according to the guidance and patronship of state government in marching ahead in the fields of various new initiatives so that Jammu University touches the skies. Cultural Secretaries like Shahnavaz and Amita Malhotra demanded absoron of available highly qualified and meritorious students against available vacancies of educational institutions. The Minister assured of his all possible support from the state government.
