| Div.Com takes stock of snow clearance, restoration of essential services | | Ample stock of essential commodities; power supply to essential services by this evening | | Srinagar, March 13 - To meet the eventualities that have arisen out of the heavy snowfall, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Basharat Ahmed chaired a high level meeting here today. Besides, IGP Kashmir, the meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Chief Engineers, of R&B, PHE, UEED, Power, Irrigation and representative from Beacon and Defence. The meeting was told that all districts headquarters of the valley stand connected to Srinagar and Snow has been cleared on all the roads that connect the respective districts to Srinagar. It was further given out that the 220 KV Jammu-Srinagar power Transmission lines has been restored and all the power grid stations of the valley have been made functional while the receiving stations are being gradually restored. It was given out in the meeting that power supply to SKIMS has been restored and power supply to SMHS and other essential services would be restored by this evening. Regarding the stock and supply position the meeting was told that ample quantity of essentials are available in the valley. It was stated that rice stocks are available to cater to the demand for two months, atta for one month and sugar for twenty days. Besides, 1.00,230. LPG cylinders are presently stocked the meeting was told. Earlier, the Divisional Commissioner visited various parts of Srinagar and personally monitored the snow clearance work on the roads. He also visited zero Bridge, M.A.Road and Dalgate and oversaw the arrangements to clear the roads of the fallen trees. The Divisional Commissioner was rmed that 17 snow clearance machines have been pressed into service in Srinagar to clear the roads. He directed the Municipal authorities to make all the arrangements to manually clear the lanes and by lanes. The Divisional Commissioner also visited Srinagar Airport and inspected snow clearance operation threat so that Air Traffic with the rest of the country is restored at the earliest. In all 39 Snow Clearance Machines are presently in operation in the valley out of which 18 have been pressed into service in Srinagar-Budgam, 9 in Anantnag –Pulwama and 12 in Baramulla and Kupwara. The Divisional Commissioner called upon all the agencies to work in a coordinated way so that road connectivity and essential services are restored at the earliest.
